GLOBALminingTech50 highlights growth, sourcing shift
- 4 May 2026
The companies and key market forces reshaping the global mining and metals technology landscape are revealed in GLOBALminingTech50, a unique register of sector leaders and potential disruptors.
ABB, Hexagon, Epiroc, Sandvik and Bentley Systems head a list of enterprises that generated about US$6.8 billion (A$9.5 billion) of mining and metals technology sales in 2025, about 5% higher than the year before and 73.5% up on 2021 when an unprecedented period of M&A and financing kicked off in the global mining and metals technology space.
The five-year period has seen more than US$15 billion of M&A and financing, led by many of the companies in the GLOBALminingTech50.
Global mining/metals tech M&A and financing topped $5 billion for the first time in 2025.
As well as established mining supply heavyweights that have significantly expanded tech businesses in the past five years, GLOBALminingTech50 features fast-growing sector newcomers such as Yikong Zhijia Technology Co, CiDi, Shanghai Bolai Intelligent Technology Co, Chrysos Corporation, MineSense Technologies and Ideon Technologies.
GLOBALminingTech50 author Richard Roberts, Beacon Events editorial director, said the list highlighted a growing appetite for software, sensors and also emerging technologies among traditional mining and metals companies, and strong demand for automation and decarbonisation technologies from Chinese and some Western miners.
“The list speaks to new opportunities to grow fast in the mining and metals tech market, which wasn’t happening before 2020, and to an investor response that is seeing billions of dollars flow into mining and metals tech companies for the first time,” Roberts said.
“The 2021-2025 period has created a nascent mining and metals technology sector platform.
“The next 10 years will see more companies generating $1 billion or more of mining tech sales and many more companies with multi-billion-dollar valuations.”
GLOBALminingTech50 companies are domiciled in 16 countries, with more than half based in Australia, USA, China and Canada.
There were three female GLOBALminingTech50 company CEOs at the time the list was compiled.
Thirty of the companies were listed on various stock exchanges.
The International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC) 2026 in Sydney, Australia, in October will host many of the GLOBALminingTech50 leaders and the crucial discussions shaping their future growth strategies.
Australia is one of the world’s biggest markets for mining technology and has producing many of the tech firms snapped up by international buyers in the past decade.
To learn more about the future directions of Hexagon, IMDEX, Epiroc, Sandvik, Fleet Space Technologies, FLS, Weir, ABB and many others, don’t miss the chance to attend IMARC 2026 from October 27-29.
