Metso adds to mill-lining strength in Australia

Metso is strengthening its position as Australia’s sole grinding mill liner manufacturer with installation of a mega-press at its rubber and Poly-Met wear parts plant in Western Australia.
The unit, designed to produce the manufacturer’s large Megaliner mill liners, is expected to be operational in the December quarter this year.
Metso says Australia is a key global market and it has a strong mill installed base in the country.
Making vital wear parts closer to customers reduces its transport footprint and improves efficiencies.
“Our customers have already responded very positively to the advantages of local support with our Karratha service centre, which was opened in 2024,” says Metso Asia Pacific president, Stuart Sneyd.
“With the addition of the mega-class press in Canning Vale we’re reinforcing our commitment to being closer to our customers and delivering state-of-the-art services.
“This expanded mill liner production capability will enhance our customer service by reducing lead times, enabling quicker deliveries and improving support for customers' rubber wear parts.”
The manufacturer’s senior vice president, mill lining, Martin Karlsson says the investment in Australia “strengthens our global footprint and ensures we continue to lead the way in mill lining technology, while developing our manufacturing footprint from a regionalisation perspective”.
The changes in Perth complement Metso’s regional rubber and Poly-Met production network covering Chile, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, India and Lithuania.
