Mining Beacon editor Richard Roberts speaks with Shahana McKenzie, CEO of Bioenergy Australia, and Francisco Malta, the founder of VM Industrials, about the part Australia’s mining and metals sector can play in accelerating development of a viable domestic renewable fuels industry in the country and where this fits in wider industrial decarbonisation efforts. Francisco Malta also talks fuel additives – VM parent, Aderco, treats about 40 billion litres of fuel a year worldwide with fuel additives – and says: “Our message is that decarbonisation can begin today and, as fuel alternative options progress, having the infrastructure for appropriate fuel additives can mitigate many of the risks involved with these alternatives.” Shahana McKenzie talks about what a viable local renewable fuels industry looks like and how government and industry are working together to build the right vision.
