Elaine Hattingh is a registered geoscientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP), holding a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Geology from the University of the Free State and a Master of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. She has also obtained qualifications from UNISA and GIBS. With extensive expertise in geomodelling, she has gained valuable experience in various coal and heavy mineral sands mining operations throughout her career. In these roles, she has developed scientifically-driven solutions to technical challenges, implemented innovative management principles to enhance efficiency and productivity, and actively contributed to the advancement of renewable energy projects aimed at reducing Exxaro's carbon footprint.
Beyond her mining-related background, Elaine Hattingh also has experience in corporate venturing, where she identified exponential businesses and evaluated their performance to determine their viability for potential investments in the agricultural, energy, and water sectors through Exxaro’s Business of Tomorrow Program.
Aside from her professional achievements, Elaine Hattingh is a mother, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for women's physical and mental well-being.
