Shobhan Dhir

Shobhan led battery and copper analyses for the IEA Global Critical Minerals Outlook, Batteries Special Report, Global EV Outlook, Global EV Battery Supply Chains Special Report, and World Energy Outlook, having presented analyses to various governments and industry groups. He also led the global battery recycling analysis for the upcoming Special report on the Recycling of Critical Minerals. Shobhan holds a PhD in Battery Materials from the University of Oxford where his research focused on developing beyond lithium-ion battery chemistries for EV batteries and battery storage. Shobhan also developed a policy briefing for the UK government Foreign Office on the geopolitics of critical minerals and also worked in the UK automotive industry. He holds a Master’s degree in Energy Technologies from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
